Lukashenko opines on western “democracy” in Afghanistan

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – The events in Afghanistan have revealed the true nature of the so-called western democracy, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the ceremony to honor representatives of law enforcement bodies on 20 August, BelTA informs.

“You see how they showed the true face of their democracy. They do not care that people scrambled into a wheel well… Or that body parts, torn legs were found in that well afterwards… It does not matter for them, it is a different thing, it is the so-called democracy. They have shown their true colors. It could have happened to us if the blitzkrieg they planned in 2020 had panned out. In a few years people would have thrown them out of the country, and some would have tried to scramble into a wheel well to leave the country. Therefore, let's learn lessons from it and let's teach our people,” the Belarusian leader said.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the motive of the actions against Belarus was as old as the hills: “There are financial interests – to divide and sell the property of people and the state. They do not care that the living standards of Belarusians will worsen. They do not think about it.”

“The puppeteers of local collaborators understand that Belarus is the key to the entire post-Soviet space,” the head of state emphasized. “The countries of Central Asia – Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and partially Turkmenistan – have also become very important for the post-Soviet space because of the events in Afghanistan,” Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked.
