Lukashenko on when he will create an Instagram account

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when he will create an Instagram account as he met with young talented Belarusians on 20 March, BelTA informs.

The students inquired whether the head of state wants to set up an account in the popular social network, because young people actively use Instagram and could learn more about the president's work from it.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, his spokesperson Natalya Eismont has long ago offered him to create an account in a social network, including Instagram. “She loves the idea of me having an account somewhere over there,” the Belarusian leader remarked.

This will mean a great responsibility, however, Alexander Lukashenko added. “There will be thousands of requests and claims… You will be writing with a view to getting in touch with the president,” he said.

In his words, he is too busy to reply to every follower. The president also does not want to delegate this task to his assistants. Alexander Lukashenko believes this would not be honest. “This is why I keep away from it. I know that I will not cope with all your requests and questions. On the other hand, I have a website. Why not use it?” the head of state inquired.

Dmitry Avramchik, a postgraduate of Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, offered the president to simply provide information about his work on Instagram because everyone understands he is a busy person and cannot handle all the requests.

The press service of the head of state is discussing the idea to create an account, Natalya Eismont stressed. “Although this probably implies less responsibility than the president's personal page, we will have an opportunity to share more informal photos which we cannot publish on the president's website,” the spokesperson emphasized.

Alexander Lukashenko, in turn, promised to consider these proposals.
