Lukashenko offers his vision of village of the future

MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – At a ceremony to honor best agricultural workers in Minsk on 18 November Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko detailed his vision of the village of the future, and said where such a project had already been implemented in the country, BelTA has learned.

“Efficient production is the basis of our village of the future. We are doing everything possible to improve the quality of life in rural areas,” the Belarusian leader said. According to him, a lot has already been done in this direction. The first project, namely agro-towns, has been completed. These are almost 1,500 villages which offer modern living conditions. They have everything: beautiful houses, well-maintained farmsteads, water and gas supply, asphalted streets, schools, equipped recreation and sports grounds, and other necessary infrastructure.

“We should keep improving the quality of life in these agrarian communities. The development of agro-towns will continue,” the president said. There are examples for building villages of the future in every oblast, and the start to this project was given in Kopys, Orsha District.

“I would like to note that we have similar examples across the country, in every region. We will continue to do our best to make our village an attractive and comfortable place for Belarusians to work and live. After all, as I have repeatedly said, these are our roots. It does not matter what generation it was, but we all come from the village,” said the Belarusian leader.

Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed confidence that both urban and rural dwellers value the countryside life which Belarus strives to preserve and improve. The head of state reiterated that today every Belarusian can have their land plot, their piece of land. “Do not miss the moment,” he said.

“Traditional way of life combined with the availability of civilization achievements is the main goal of our ‘village of the future' project,” the Belarusian leader said.
