Lukashenko off to Tajikistan on official visit

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has embarked on an official visit to Tajikistan. The head of state's plane has left Minsk National Airport, BelTA has learned.

In Dushanbe Aleksandr Lukashenko will have private negotiations with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon and negotiations involving members of the delegations.

“The sides will discuss the expansion of cooperation, primarily cooperation in trade and economy, and the implementation of current and prospective projects. A package of international documents is expected to be signed as a result of the talks,” the press service of the Belarusian leader said.

The Belarusian head of state will spend the second day of the visit in a number of meetings in Tajikistan's capital.

A Belarusian-Tajik investment forum will take place in Dushanbe alongside the president's official visit. An exposition of Belarusian products Made in Belarus will be on display there.

“The most important and priority area is the economic component of the visit. We have long planned this visit and the Made in Belarus exhibition as part of the visit and business forum,” Belarusian Ambassador to Tajikistan Viktor Denisenko told the media.

Yesterday, a large delegation of Belarusian business circles arrived in Dushanbe. They represent the interests of over 70 companies and enterprises. The parties agreed to sign over 60 documents, including over $46 million worth of commercial contracts.
