Lukashenko: Nobody will give us more than we can earn on our own

BARANOVICHI, 1 September (BelTA) – Nobody will give Belarusians more than what they can earn on their own. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement while talking to local residents in Baranovichi, Brest Oblast on 1 September, BelTA has learned.

“If we start breaking each other over the knee, you know what will happen. There will be at least a civil war. We don't need that. But don't worry it won't happen,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. “I understand that things need to be better, that some things are in short supply. But we live as well as we can. There is no thievery, uncontrolled crime. It should be appreciated. Nobody will give us more than we can earn on our own.”

Talking to Baranovichi residents, Aleksandr Lukashenko encouraged older Belarusians to talk more to young ones. In his opinion, young Belarusians know nothing of the hardships the country encountered in its youth. “They didn't see it. You should talk to them, tell them about things, they are our future after all,” he stressed. “Many people say that Belarusians have no reason for complaining, that Belarusians haven't been scared. But then we don't want to be scared.”

“Without you, without experienced people (some have already retired, some are about to) the country would not exist already. You prop this country. There is peace today thanks to you,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated. “Our children and grandchildren should live here, this is why we should do everything for the children to feel good. And there will be nothing without peace.”
