Lukashenko: No serious people in Ukraine consider invading Belarus

MOSCOW, 8 October (BelTA) – None of decision-makers, even at the level of Zelensky, consider invading Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told journalists in the Kremlin commenting on calls by some hotheads in Ukraine to invade Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“Well, let them try. We are waiting for them. Yet, I must tell you that these babblers do not make any decisions. What they say is just utter nonsense. And none of serious people, even at the level of President Zelensky, entertain the idea of invading Belarus. This will land them in big trouble and inflict irreparable military damage to Kiev. This is just yapping of those who are not responsible for anything. They can say whatever they want. This does not bother us a bit,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that the Belarusian side does not hide that it maintains some contacts with the Ukrainian authorities: “They are minimal, we use channels that help us, Russians, exchange prisoners of war, maintain humanitarian contacts. These are normal contacts. We work together with Russians here.”

“Therefore, no matter how you look at it, the border is 1,500 kilometers, thus it’s not in Ukraine’s interests to march into Belarus,” the Belarusian leader remarked.
