MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) — I expect more action and fair assessment of the situation from my aides in the regions, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the meeting of the leadership of the Belarus President Administration on 12 June, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled an example of how aides in the regions worked in the Soviet times. If an official came to the region, everything there was placed on the state of alert. And this brought results. Now the head of state urges his aides in the regions to show a more principled approach.
“That is why I demand from you to give results. Ensure more action there. But this should not be like ‘I am the authority. Do as I say’. There is a governor there. But you need to act so that the governor can see that your mean business and that you are very serious about this or that matter,” the Belarusian leader said.

The head of state demands prompt and, most importantly, more independent actions not only from aides, but also from officials in general, especially from the Belarus President Administration. “You all have got used to the practice of addressing the president as soon as our country faces any problem. Why do you keep asking for my help? You know my position. We should not offend people, whoever they are, as long as they work legally,” he said. “If we see that something is wrong, we should revise the law. If they violate the law, make sure they are held accountable. Everything should be under control.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko cited the example of recent frosts, which significantly affected the future harvest of garden crops. Accordingly, one should think in advance about how to ensure there is the necessary amount of products in stock: “That is what we are for here - to work out a system, to import apples, which will be in short supply this year. There will sure be a shortage of apples. I have recently walked around my garden. I grow apples varieties there. I see that 10-15% are still alive. The rest froze out. Even if we crop what we have and store it properly, we won't have any problems.”
Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi, who was present at the meeting, noted in this regard that the head of state had just signed a decree on the supply of fruit and vegetable products for the public needs. The decree directly concerns the formation of stabilization funds.
“I have signed a lot of decisions. You need to oversee their implementation. Report to me if someone does not implement anything. Officials who cannot work should be fired,” the Belarusian leader said.
Many good storage facilities have been built in the country, he added. Some of them, however, stand empty or are poorly maintained. The head of state called such things a crime.
“The president’s aide is responsible for this in the first place. Aides are the president’s eyes and ears. Where are you doing there?” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
