MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – The Minsk International Exhibition Center will be inaugurated in style in May 2025, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with representatives of labor collectives of Minsk City Technopark on 16 January, BelTA has learned.
The president emphasized that the idea of an exhibition and exhibition center where all the country's achievements could be showcased was born a long time ago. "When I was a member of parliament, I visited many exhibition centers around the world, in Russia and other countries. I thought that we should have our own center, so that people could come and take pride in their country," he stated.
The president stressed that the center is not fully complete. "This is not yet the opening [of the whole exhibition center]. We will open it before Victory Day in May. The exhibition will take its final shape by then," the head of state said adding that it is still a kind of a trial run.
There were proposals to open the exhibition center in December- January. The head of state said: "Why hurry? Let's do it properly. Moreover, there are still unfinished elements [that the builder needs to fix]. So do not hurry. Let the builders do their job. We will open it by Victory Day."
The idea was to launch the My Belarus exhibition at first and then open the whole center in style upon completion of all the works. The opening is scheduled for May 2025.
"We launched the first stage of our project for families to have an opportunity to spend quality time. They say that children really enjoy themselves there. We will develop this exhibition space," Aleksandr Lukashenko stated emphasizing the special importance of such a project for the younger generation.
"It is good that you saw it. The exhibition shows that we are not some backwater of a country but a smart capable nation. That was the idea," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
"I invite you to come and open this great exhibition center together by 9 May," the president added. He emphasized that the project involved the world's best architects and designers and domestic specialists. The design of the facility resembles the open wings of a stork.
