Lukashenko learns about wedding boom after his visit to Minsk's Loshitsa

MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) - During his visit to the Minsk City Technical Creativity Center for Children and Youth on 17 October, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko took note of the urban development in the surrounding grounds and the Belarusian capital in general, commending the city authorities for their effective work in this area, BelTA has learned.
“It's good that you've finally learned to clean Minsk up. Before, we'd create a real gem, a little showpiece, but the surroundings were an eyesore (as sometimes happened in the past). Working like this, we might just get the whole city in shape within a five-year period,” the head of state said.

Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev reported on the progress made to complete the modernization of the Slepyanka Water System, the repair of its waterfalls, and the cleanup of the coastal zone. “All the structures. It is now almost fully developed. There are also children's playgrounds there,” he said.

Conditions have been created for active recreation, including outdoor sportsgrounds.

"Sports are highly recommended for the kids involved in this kind of work [at the Technical Creativity Center]. Let them exercise,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The head of state also inquired about the operation of the Loshitsa complex in Minsk, which he visited in September ahead of the City Day celebrations. The complex features a wedding ceremony hall. During his previous visit, Aleksandr Lukashenko attended the first such ceremony and personally congratulated the newlyweds.

“Of course. The publicity from that was huge! Applications are up tenfold,” the officials accompanying the head of state reported to him.
It was reported that on one particular day, they couldn't even process all the couples who wanted to register, as they were physically unable to handle the overwhelming volume of requests.

"Well, they might have to work through the night if needed...,” the president remarked jokingly. “If people want to, it must be done.”

The president was informed that in response to the surge in demand, the complex now offers various locations for off-site marriage registration ceremonies. “We now offer services at the estate and around the place. The site is packed with people now! There are huge crowds on weekends, indeed,” Vladimir Kukharev said.
