MOGILEV, 28 May (BelTA) - Journalism should be bold, but not insulting, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he answered questions of the participants of the Belarus Media Forum in Mogilev on 28 May, BelTA has learned.
Ksenia Buglak, a journalist from the Mogilevskiye Vedomosti news agency, noted that sharp and bold journalism came forward in Belarus after the 2020 events. The journalist said that she herself tried to apply a similar approach. She added however that such a presentation of information was not to everyone’s liking. In this regard, Ksenia Buglak asked the head of state how bold journalists should be in their work.
“Senior journalists start avoiding this boldness, and in fact we may lose it. Journalism needs to be bold. The only rule you must adhere to is not to insult people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
According to the head of state, journalists should be bold, yet perform their duties in the most competent way. “Do not offend those whom you should not offend,” he said. “As for the fact that you are being bold and so on, you have just answered your question yourself - all this will pass. You will do your work differently in the future. Everybody comes through it in a definite point of time in their lives. Everything comes with experience. In the meantime, go ahead.”
