MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – It is high time for Belarus and Vietnam to launch direct flights, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media following the talks with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam in Minsk on 12 May, BelTA has learned.
“There is notable progress in strengthening bilateral humanitarian ties. I would like to remind you that on 30 January 2025 our countries introduced a visa waiver. It is high time to launch direct air service between Belarus and Vietnam,” the president said. “As the general secretary said, our people as well as business start to communicate very intensively. [Direct] flights will intensify this process.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned an agreement to work more closely with Vietnam in education, to pay special attention to training Vietnamese scientists at Belarusian scientific institutions.
“We also touched upon direct ties between the regions of the two countries. We have a huge untapped potential here. I am confident that the administrative and territorial reform successfully carried out in Vietnam will give a new impetus to interregional interaction and enrich cooperation with new ideas and projects,” the president said.
“I am convinced that the Hanoi Days in Minsk, which start today, will also contribute to strengthening the Belarusian-Vietnamese friendship, humanitarian and cultural ties between our peoples,” the Belarusian leader added.
