MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) – The investigation concerning Roman Protasevich and Sofia Sapega, who were arrested in Minsk, will proceed in Belarus, BelTA learned from Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko during a government conference held in the Palace of Independence on 1 June.
Speaking about negotiations with President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Sochi, Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that the matter of the arrested Ryanair flight passengers had been certainly discussed, but the presidents had spent only a small amount of time talking about it.
“The investigation concerning both persons will proceed in Belarus. It is unbendable. I told the president of Russia about it. I assured him there will be no issues with the consuls' access [to the arrestees]. I don't think they take offense, we do more than providing information, if they want to meet, they can go ahead. It is an international practice,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
