MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has set a task to cooperate more actively with major Russian media outlets as he heard out a report on current issues related to the country’s information policy on 29 August, BelTA has learned.
"We are raising this question with leading Russian TV channels. They have met us halfway, and we are very interested in this, too. We need to boost this interaction. Recently, our voice has been heard well in the world: Belarusian media, especially TV channels, Internet broadcasts are very popular. But, to be honest, Russia’s voice sounds louder. So it's important for us to be there, too," the Belarusian leader said.
"After all, this is our main partner. The main market for our goods. Obviously, we need to to be present in the regions as well. I've looked at your reports suggesting that we are indeed present in the regions. This is very important, too. Our interests are there. It is good that the heads of the leading Russian media outlets have accommodated us and are ready to support and cooperate in every possible way," Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
Attending the meeting is the deputy head of the Belarus President Administration, the information minister, the president's press secretary and the chairperson of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company.
