GRODNO DISTRICT, 26 November (BelTA) – Instead of simply hoping for a resolution of the migrant crisis at the border the Belarusian side will work together with migrants to achieve their dream. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he talked to refugees outside a transportation and logistics hub near the border checkpoint Bruzgi at the Belarusian-Polish border on 26 November, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Instead of simply hoping we will work with you to achieve your dream.”
While talking to the head of state the refugees thanked the Belarusian nation and the country's leadership for the support and assistance they had received, particularly for the Belarusian side taking care of their kids.
Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded that in the 1940s friendly Muslim countries supported the Soviet Union by accommodating the Soviet citizens, who fled the war. “You welcomed them and fed them, particularly Poles. Today is the time to settle that debt. And we will do everything to avoid offending you. We are doing everything we can. As Belarusians say, one good turn deserves another,” the head of state noted.
