Lukashenko in favor of fair self-regulating pricing system

LOGOISK, 7 January (BelTA) – It is necessary to create a fair self-regulating system as far as pricing practices are concerned. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he visited a church in Logoisk, Minsk Oblast on Orthodox Christmas, 7 January, BelTA has learned.

The head of state stressed that justice must underpin everything. “There must be no injustice. This is why we interfere with pricing practices. It doesn’t mean we regulate prices as some say. Absolutely not. We are not going to regulate prices. It is impossible in today’s market economy. These are not Soviet times when prices were specified for everything. It is necessary to create a self-regulating system. It should not choke the private sector and manufacturing,” the Belarusian leader stated. “If a peasant makes something, why should we tell him where and at what price he should sell his products? Let him sell them. But he should remember that he made those products while nearby people buy them. And they should be able to buy these products.”

“The same applies to industrial goods. We can make as many tractors as we would like but our agricultural enterprises and farmers will not be able to buy them. This is why it is necessary to create a self-regulating system that will help institute this justice,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded that people create values in the country, this is why it is necessary to give them a fair share of generated profits. “Instead of lining your pockets. It is the principle of justice,” the head of state stressed.

“If this justice does not exist, we will have a war. Things did not start with a maidan revolution in Ukraine. Everything started with injustice when a huge clan (oligarchs) emerged and strangled Ukraine. And little by little these oligarchs led the country to a war. For instance, [Ukraine President Vladimir] Zelensky is not a poor man. This is why huge money represents a major problem for those, who haven’t earned it. One doesn’t think about the state then. One thinks about this money then. And all the presidents over there were like that. This is why everything begins with injustice,” the Belarusian leader remarked.

“If you work well, if you work hard, enjoy [your earnings]. Nobody will take them from you. But what you earn should stay in Belarus. It should not be withdrawn. As they say, capital export: you earn money, move it abroad, deposit it in banks or set up some enterprise. Why do we have to work for the benefit of someone else? This is why everything should stay in Belarus. These are fundamental matters of justice that will receive serious attention soon,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
