MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – We should seriously consider employer-sponsored enrollment at universities, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said when summing up the results of the 6th Belarusian People's Congress in Minsk on 12 February, BelTA has learned.
The president stressed that certain conclusions will be drawn from the recent events. "We need smart reliable students, because they are future professionals and leaders," he said.
The process of employer-sponsored enrollment will be closely monitored. “We need to take into account the Soviet-time experience. We remember it. We should understand that if we have knowledgeable people, professionals, the country will continue developing,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
He also touched upon entrance examinations at universities, and suggested combining centralized testing with in-person interviews. This issue will be discussed with experts in the near future.
