Lukashenko: If NATO commits troops to Ukraine, then Russia may roll out most dangerous weapons

KAZAN, 23 October (BelTA) - If NATO commits troops to Ukraine, then Russia may roll out the most dangerous weapons, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with VGTRK journalist Olga Skabeyeva on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan, BelTA has learned.

The head of state made this statement as he responded to the fake news about the alleged presence of the North Korean military on the side of Russia, which could become a pretext, among other things, for the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine.

“These stories about North Koreans.. I don't think that the Russian leadership, the military need it at all. Russia has enough people at the front in Ukraine. Regarding the Ukrainians. Well, if necessary, they will mobilzie more. The mobilization resource is significant. It's not that there are 25 million left in Ukraine - everyone fled. There are 140-150 million in Russia. The difference is huge. Therefore, I do not think that this is a true sotry," the president said. “After all, an empire does not need it. Absolutely not! I have no information that there are North Koreans there, and I have no information on whether they are going to be there.”

“Most probably this will not happen. I do not believe that. Because making this step, Russia realizes that there will be a retaliatory step. It is undesirable for Russia. Well, if they [Ukraine and the West] want to deploy NATO troops there, this will be a different war. Then the Russian military can roll the most dangerous weapons out of their warehouses,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that Russia was doing right by not announcing additional mobilization in the country: “Russia has chosen another way. It is gradually moving forward. It is recruiting contract servicemen. This works.”
