Lukashenko extends Liberation Day greetings to Cuba

MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko sent greetings to Cuba President Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez as the country celebrated Liberation Day on 1 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“An event of historical scale took place 65 years ago. The freedom-loving Cuban people won a triumphant victory, rebuilding the way of life of their country and bringing to the fore the principles of social equality, justice and humanism,” the message of greetings reads.

Since then, Cuba has been under continuous political and economic pressure, the Belarusian leader said. “Nevertheless, I am sincerely convinced that your hard-working people will be able to withstand any obstacles and take the Cuban economy to a qualitatively new level,” the president emphasized.

The head of state expressed hope that the intensification of bilateral ties between Minsk and Havana would yield concrete results in the form of stable and constructive development of both countries and growth of wellbeing of their people.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez and all Cubans strong health and every success.
