MINSK, 26 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told journalists why he decided to chop firewood before the EAEU summit during a brief interview on the sidelines of the summit in Leningrad Oblast, Russia on 26 December, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko explained that he brought the skis with him (the summit took place at the all-season resort Igora), but the weather was not suitable for skiing: the snow melted.
"Therefore, we found an alternative. Yury Valentinovich Kovalchuk [the largest shareholder of the Rossiya Bank and the owner of the majority of the Igora resort facilities] brought a whole trailer of firewood and I did a good job today. I have to work out every morning," the president stated.
