KORMA, 12 October (BelTA) – Over the next five years, it is important to adapt the strategy and tactics for Gomel Oblast, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed a ceremony honoring farmers during Dazhynki 2024 harvest festival in the town of Korma, Gomel Oblast on 12 October, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that nature poses a new challenge to farmers: the climate and the structure of agriculture are changing, droughts and strong winds have become a new challenge. Gomel Oblast, according to him, is a clear example of this.
"It's time we take the next step. Over the next five years, we need to adapt the strategy and tactics for Gomel Oblast, for applying its potential. During the next five-year term the region must change both externally and internally, especially in terms of manufacturing potential,” the president said. “You will have an active role to play in the new program for Polesie and renewed Chernobyl program. One District, One Project should give the result," the president said.
At the same time, we should not forget about land reclamation, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, because it is no less important for Gomel Oblast than it is for Brest Oblast.
"In two or three years, we need to gain momentum in all areas. You have taken the first step with the new governor towards the goals set before him. Of course, we will support and help you, but it is you who must spearhead the progress on your land," the head of state said.
