Lukashenko: Escalation may end with destruction of Ukraine

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA)  - Russia will liberate Kursk Oblast from the Ukrainian military who invaded its territory at any cost, and the escalation of the conflict could lead to the destruction of Ukraine as a state, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with the Rossiya TV channel, BelTA has learned.

The head of state said that there were no non-professionals among the Ukrainian military who attacked Kursk Oblast. "They were picked up from the entire line of contact. These were mostly people who had gone through the war. The rest were re-equipped. There were mercenaries, Poles and so on and so forth," Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “A very powerful force was formed, and they invaded... What is a border? I was a border guard when I served in the army. I know what a border is. There are a few guys there. Well, you have reinforced them but still they could not contain such a force."

"Naturally, the military and Putin will do their utmost to demolish the Ukrainian military there. That's when the question will arise: why they sent them there?  To bury the most combat experienced military? They have sent the best ones there. What will happen to other sectors of the front?” the head of state asked. “When Ukrainians are sent to the frontlines, they say goodbye to everyone. We know this for sure. They understand that this is a one-way ticket.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the escalation of the conflict could end in the saddest way for the Ukrainian state. "If things continue like this, like the attack on Kursk, it will be an escalation that will end with the destruction of Ukraine. No one has yet defeated this empire. No one will defeat Russia. What kind of NATO can cope with this? The Americans have this only policy:  to pit Europe against Russia to fight each other. And then they will deal with the Chinese in the East," he said.
