Lukashenko: 'Ensuring human freedom will be priority in my future work'

MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – Ensuring human freedom will be a priority in my future work, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with the labor collectives of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) on 21 January, BelTA has learned.

“If I continue working as president, one of my main priorities will be to ensure people’s freedom. So that there would not be this unnecessary excessive bureaucratization,” the head of state said. “Human freedom will be the most important area of work for me. But freedom the way I was once taught: you are an individual, you are free. But there is a shoulder of an individual next to you, here is the shoulder of another. Don't push them. This is your freedom, and this is theirs. And you don't interfere with it.”

“A man has the right to live freely in his country. But do not interfere with others. That's my requirement,” the president noted. “But it's one thing when you talk one-on-one and another thing when you talk in a group of 5 people or when you have a huge team of thousands. Or when you are on TV or you are a blogger. You must bear responsibility for what you say to millions of people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He emphasized that he is responsible for his words, and so should everyone. “People say ‘live freely but do not interfere with another’. That will be one of the priorities. Building our lives without war is the highest priority,” the president added.
