MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – People should not walk to the government. The government has to run to the people. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during the national seminar-conference held on 10 June to discuss new methods and forms of public communication at the grassroots level, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Time has come to understand that people should not walk to the government but the government should run to the people. It is how the social role of the society changes: people stop being supplicants and become our partners.”
He remarked that there are plenty of opportunities for energetic people, true patriots, who are ready to lend a shoulder to the state, to channel their energy. There are good examples of cooperation of public organizations and the state in matters concerning support of the citizens, who need special protection. “There are plenty of organizations like that in Belarus. And the state pays for it, I am talking about the state social mandate. We are ready to support those, who have confirmed their social stance with deeds: those who help people in need instead of playing off Belarusians against each other, instead of muddying the water of our calm and orderly life. In other words, there will always be work for all the indifferent persons, who truly want to benefit people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
