Lukashenko emphasizes importance of mining and processing complex in Lyuban District

LYUBAN DISTRICT, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko likened the construction of a mining and processing complex in Lyuban District to the construction of a nuclear power plant during his visit to the site on 23 May, BelTA has learned.

The president was updated that horizon mining had already been launched at the mining and processing complex in Lyuban District, and ore extraction had been started. The project provides for the construction of two lines with the capacity of 1 million tonnes each.

The facility will produce high-quality potash fertilizers. This is so-called white potash, which is extracted from salts. This product is in high demand on the world market. It will be mainly exported to China.

“If we can go deeper, we should continue construction. We must do everything we need,” the Belarusian leader instructed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko raised the topic of waste management again: “We need to think about what to do with this waste. In Soligorsk and here. We need to make some decision on this issue. We need to think about what we will do with this waste.”

The president touched upon the social and economic development of Lyuban District and the town of Lyuban. It will be necessary to build modern housing and social facilities in the area, following the example of Ostrovets, where the BelNPP has been built.

“A new facility has been built. We need workers here. To attract people here we are building social infrastructure. We will do everything necessary for people to ensure this production project works well. We will focus on production, housing, all social infrastructure. Only then we will have order in the country,” the head of state emphasized.
