Lukashenko eager to attend Forum of Regions in Nizhny Novgorod together with Putin

MOSCOW, 14 March (BelTA) – Plans have been made for Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin to visit the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is due in Nizhny Novgorod this year. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement in his speech in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation during an official visit to the Russian Federation, BelTA has learned.

“The president of Russia and I have agreed that we will surely attend this forum in person,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced that under the leadership of the speakers of the upper chambers of the two parliaments Natalya Kochanova and Valentina Matviyenko this year’s Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will gather a large number of participants and guests in Nizhny Novgorod.

The head of state mentioned an intensive schedule of visits of Russian oblast governors from Smolensk to Sakhalin to Belarus and return visits of members of the Belarusian government and heads of enterprises to the Russian regions. Thanks to the regularly held Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia under the patronage of Belarusian and Russian senators these ties are preserved and the number of successful projects gets larger all the time. Contracts worth over Br1 billion were signed during the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in 2024 alone.
