MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – We need to sort things out in schools whatever it costs, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the National Pedagogical Conference in Minsk on 24 August, BelTA has learned.
“I want to say something to you, the minister and to all those who are responsible for the school system today. This is my unyielding requirement as a person (not only as the president) who took his first steps in professional life as a rural teacher. A school is a temple and should be treated accordingly. Order and discipline in this temple depend not only on parishioners but also on those who are responsible for this temple, i.e. teachers," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
"Sort things out in schools, no matter what. And look: in a year or two the school system will be overhauled and the status of the teacher, which we are talking about, will be completely different. I would even say more: use any methods but sort things out," the president demanded.
According to the head of state, there were many examples when teachers were not at their best compared to students.
