Lukashenko demands 'tangible monetization' of relations with Gulf states

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – We must monetize the relations with major Persian Gulf states, for example, through mutually beneficial trade and investment projects, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with heads of Belarus’ diplomatic missions in Minsk on 31 July, BelTA has learned.

"We have established stable high-level dialogue With leading Gulf states - the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. But I want to see concrete monetization of these relationships through profitable trade and investment projects,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.

The president raised the topic of establishing hubs in the UAE or Oman for potential production and marketing of goods to other Middle Eastern and African countries. According to him, these projects remain unimplemented to date.

"We have not even begun to get traction here. No hubs have been established yet. We are just dreaming about them. It’s time for action," the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko highlighted the importance of developing cooperation with other Middle Eastern nations. “There are difficulties in Libya but we are cooperating. They pay upfront. We welcome cooperation with Libya and Syria,” the president noted and added that Belarusian goods are also in demand in Afghanistan.
