Lukashenko: CSTO secretary general's appointment no longer a problem

ST PETERSBURG, 6 December (BelTA) - The issue related to the appointment of the CSTO secretary general has been almost settled, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in a brief interview to journalists on the sidelines of the EAEU and CIS summits in St Petersburg, BelTA has learned.

“We suddenly came close to holding a CSTO summit, and we actually almost solved the problem related to the appointment of the secretary general,” the Belarusian leader noted.

When asked for more details, Alexander Lukashenko said that a Belarusian representative will be appointed to the post of the CSTO secretary general. “We agreed on the appointment process. This will be an individual interview with every head of the CSTO member state, and then a resolution approving this appointment will be signed,” the Belarus president said.
