Lukashenko: Coronavirus psychosis made people more careful

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – The psychosis over the novel coronavirus has made people more careful and more sensitive about personal hygiene, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he visited Adani Company on 20 March, BelTA has learned.

What we have seen is “coronavirus frenzy and psychosis”, the head of state said. Meanwhile it is important to simply follow the basic personal hygiene rules like washing your hands. Aleksandr Lukashenko believes that instead of panicking one should take simple precautions.

The topic of health and the coronavirus was brought up after Antonis Josef (a native of Sri Lanka and currently a resident of Minsk), the director for business development of medical and X-ray systems of the company, wished the president good health. Aleksandr Lukashenko joked that every other day he hears rumors that he is either dead or infected with the virus. At the same time he pointed out that, according to some specialists, the structure of the novel coronavirus is 90% identical to the known viruses which the world faced in the past years.

Antonis Josef told the president that he came to Belarus 23 years ago, got a medical degree, after which he worked in several clinics in Minsk and eventually ended up at Adani Company.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that is is important to value talented medics who work in regions, polyclinics and hospitals.
