MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on getting elected as the prime minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on the successful completion of the election campaign and the formation of the Pakistan government, BelTA has learned.

The congratulatory message reads: “I wish you to realize all plans and projects for the sake of continued development of your beautiful country, to satisfy needs of the Pakistani society. I am convinced that cooperation with Minsk will help with it. Islamabad has been our reliable partner for 30 years. I am pleased to note that the governments of Belarus and Pakistan faithfully implement the agreement on intensifying bilateral ties, which we reached during our personal meetings in Samarkand and Astana in 2022.”

A session of the Belarus-Pakistan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation took place in Minsk in 2023. An official visit of the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs to Islamabad and other bilateral events also took place last year.

“I confirm the readiness to visit Pakistan this year. I am convinced that our meeting will contribute to the advancement of interaction in manufacturing sector, pharmaceutics, agriculture, petrochemistry, electric transport, education, science, and technologies,” the head of state stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Shehbaz Sharif strong health and success in his responsible position as well as peace and prosperity to the Pakistani nation.
