MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – The weather in early April was not the best, but there is no catastrophe for agriculture yet, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he spoke with journalists during the national clean-up day on 12 April, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko was asked whether he would change the tasks for the agricultural industry in view of the frosts that gripped Belarus in early April, and whether the president would ease his requirements for the agricultural industry.

The president noted that the soil in Minsk Oblast and Minsk District is very tricky. This is due to the altitude above sea level, among other things. And seeing how plants grow here, one can assume what is happening in other parts of Belarus. Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that the five or six degrees below zero is not a disaster, and during the day the temperature was even above zero.

At the same time, the head of state remarked that rapeseed and winter barley cause some concern. “Specialists will analyze the situation (taking into account the warming that is expected next week). Of course, the weather was not the best, but I do not see a catastrophe here,” the president said.
