Lukashenko comments on global changes, emergence of new world order

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko The leader addressed the profound transformations in world affairs over recent years and the ongoing formation of a new international architecture as he met with heads of Belarus’ diplomatic missions in Minsk on 31 July, BelTA has learned.

“Today we are witnessing the emergence of a new international system, with the contours of multipolarity becoming increasingly clear. We understand multipolarity not as a departure from our traditional allies - Russia, China, and others,” the head of state stated. “No, we recognize that our economy is an open economy. Ultimately, it is the economy that sets the terms. Our international and geopolitical position compels us to consider not just our neighbors to the north, south, and east but to the west as well. The European Union is our neighbor too.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that even Belarus' partners, including China, seek cooperation with the high-tech European Union. This policy is driven by concrete mutual interests.

"Given our strategic position, we have shaped what we call a multi-vector policy. This does not represent a turn away from anyone. Nor does a multi-vector policy mean we have altered our developmental course to chase opportunities across the ocean or in the European Union. We have interests there, like everyone else. It is our neighbor. We must build relations with it. Or there will be trouble. And we do not want trouble; we have had our fair share already," the head of state said.
He emphasized that the emerging international system must be founded not on the diktat of 'select' nations, but on principles of mutual respect and equality - creating opportunities for constructive dialogue and cooperation. However, the head of state noted that this new system will not fully materialize today or perhaps even tomorrow.

"The West-centric model is not surrendering without a fight - quite literally. The masks have fallen completely,” the Belarusian leader noted. “All their postulates about a 'rules-based world order' now stand exposed before the very world.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko cited several examples revealing the West’s true stance on human rights: “Look at the dozens of corpses being smuggled across our border by those who called these people over to their so-called ‘garden’.”

He also urged to look at Gaza where children’s suffering takes you straight back to the Middle Ages. "What about the rights of Paralympic athletes who are barred from competitions? What have these people ever done wrong to ‘human right defenders’?” the head of state asked rhetorically.
Western principles regarding the inviolability of private property are being similarly broken. “They openly freeze and steal assets of sovereign states. They impose sanctions without any justification, weaponizing the U.S. dollar. Mark my words, this will end badly for the dollar itself,” the president remarked. “Yet the historical process is inexorable. We are witnessing how the term 'Global Majority' has become a system-defining concept and how BRICS is transforming into a structure the West openly fears. Entire integration blocs, including our Eurasian Economic Union, are increasingly abandoning the dollar in favor of national currencies. This process will press forward.”
