Lukashenko comments on Belarus’ border violation by Ukrainian drones

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on the violation of the Belarusian airspace by drones from Ukraine as he spoke to the residents of the agrotown of Gorodishche, Shklov District on 10 August, BelTA has learned.

“Today we live without war. If we stop working, war will be here. Everything depends on economy,” the head of state said.

In his words, the two-day discussions in Shklov District focused on the matter. The meeting considered issues related to efficient agricultural production in Shklov and Orsha districts. “This is not because here is my birthplace. But because Shklov District and Orsha District have a good base. The lands here are among the country’s best, almost like in the country’s west. The land should yield result,” the president said.

“Everything will be fine. Keep in mind, however, that not everything depends on me,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “I came here from Minsk to host this meeting. Last night, a set of drones crossed our border on their way to the territory of Russia. They violated our airspace. We had to use force. We had to shoot them down. The ones we did not shoot down were coming through Russia. We passed on the information and they shot them down.”

“You see how it may happen. We are dealing with everyday matters, and learn about a turbulent situation on the border. I have to go there tomorrow to deal with the matter,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
