Lukashenko comes to army parade in honor of Great Victory’s 80th anniversary in Minsk

MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived for the army parade held in Minsk on 9 May to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet nation’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, BelTA has learned.

Open space around the Minsk Hero City Obelisk has traditionally become the venue for the army parade.

The parade includes aerial units, units on foot, and a mechanized column. The aerial units will feature nearly 40 aircraft and helicopters. The foot column will include 33 parade units and five banner groups. Military personnel from Russia, China, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are also participating in the parade.

The mechanized column will feature 25 parade units and a total of about 270 hardware specimens.
