Lukashenko brands Poland as USA’s puppet

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Poland’s authorities pursue a short-sighted policy. Their actions have already infuriated the Polish private sector. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he met with representatives of various nationalities, who live in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of state, nowadays Poland does not pursue an independent policy because neither the people of Poland nor the leadership of Poland needs the deterioration of relations in the eastern direction – with Belarus and Russia.

“They understand it. But Uncle Sam forces them to do it. Americans want a war in Europe. Then they will look good,” the Belarusian leader noted. “Europe is a competitor for Americans. High-tech Europe that makes Mercedes cars that are on par with Ford cars, broadly speaking. Europe has its own currency. It was ready to separate itself from the U.S. dollar. Americans didn’t want that. So they keep pushing. Poland has become a puppet.”

“We have a normal attitude to them, a normal policy. We suggest a normal life to them. Let’s cooperate,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

He remarked that the Polish private sector has already been infuriated by actions of the Polish government, which forbids cooperation with Belarus and Russia. “After all, they cannot work in Russia or Belarus anymore. They are simply not allowed to come here [by Polish authorities, which introduce various restrictions and shut down border crossings]. They ask Poland’s leadership: ‘Why are you doing it? We made money over there. We earned money and brought it to Poland. We had normal relations.’ They didn’t even shoot themselves in the foot. They shot themselves in the head. It is their policy,” the president stated.

At the same time Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that situations when one side is guilty while the other side is completely guilt-free never happen: “This is why I tell my government in public: don’t quarrel with Poles. We may have underperformed somewhere. Let’s treat them well. Let’s take steps to meet each other halfway.”
