MOSCOW, 14 March (BelTA) – Vladimir Zelensky will not win the presidential election in Ukraine if they decide to hold it but I will advise not to overdo this ‘election topic’, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with TV presenter Olga Skabeyeva for the Rossiya 1 TV channel, BelTA learned.
“What concerns the topic of election… This is an internal matter of Ukraine. I would not press this issue. By the way, Putin has indicated this too. He is not pushing this topic either,” the head of state said.
He recalled that U.S. President Donald Trump had previously called Vladimir Zelensky a dictator, insisting they hold election.
“Don't. It just gives a popularity boost for Zelensky. There are not fools there either. People in Ukraine are like us. No matter how unpopular he is, but this boosts Zelensky's authority. A little bit, but it does. It doesn't do good for the image of the United States of America. Well, what business is it of yours who is president in Ukraine, Belarus or Russia. People will figure it out for themselves. It is clear that Vladimir Zelensky will lose in the polls. He stands no chance. Why put more pressure on this sore subject and thus damage your credibility because of it,” the Belarusian president.
