VITEBSK, 15 December (BelTA) – Belarusians have nurtured their country over a quarter of a century and they will not give it away to anyone, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with senior officials of Vitebsk Oblast on 15 December, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the neighboring states - Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine – have a plethora of economic and social issues. They are using the conflict with Belarus to resolve their domestic problems in one way or another.
Belarus has always advocated consistent cooperation and partnerships in various fields. Belarus wishes these countries well, the president said. However, their authorities have different goals.
“What kind of leadership they have ... It is going to be even worse. Therefore, our main task is to hold our ground. We need to defend our turf. With or without Lukashenko, this is your country; we have nurtured it over a quarter of a century and we should never give it away to anyone,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.
