Lukashenko: Belarusians need to show that they are masters of their land

MINSK DISTRICT, 8 January (BelTA) – Belarusians need to live through this year with dignity and show that they are the masters of their land, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he visited the Church of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist in the agricultural town of Shershuny, Minsk District, BelTA has learned.

“We are on the verge of a generational change, when everything that has been done, be it bad or good (maybe it’s not for us to judge), will be passed on to the younger generation - our children. This year will be very difficult. They will try to use us as a training ground. And we need to hold out. They will be getting ready for the next presidential election. And we need to pay special attention to the youth who did not live through the difficult times during the Soviet Union and after the collapse of the USSR. They did not live through what the previous generations did. They need to be told about it so that they value what we have done,” the president said.

“We need to do everything so that we live this year with dignity and work to the best of our ability as we are approaching this momentous event. We are the masters of this land, we, the Belarusian people, have suffered a lot in our history, we have the right to live according to our own laws,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
