MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarusians collectively hold around Br30 billion, or an average of $1,000 per capita, in savings accounts today, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the 7th Belarusian People's Congress in Minsk on 24 April, BelTA has learned.
Belarus is a country with a low level of social stratification by income. According to the head of state, this is what a civilized, highly developed country - a country of equal opportunities - should be.
According to the president, Belarusians can afford to have savings today. As of early April 2024, Belarusians had almost Br30 billion in their savings accounts alone. It is about $1,000 per capita on average. People also have a certain rainy-day pot at home as well. I believe this proves that Belarusians enjoy decent living standards today,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
