MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – Belarusian universities will have to compete with each other, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the National Pedagogical Conference on 24 August, BelTA has learned.
“There are about 50 institutions of higher learning – universities, academies, institutes – in Belarus. The number of universities in countries with the similar territory and population (Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Israel) is two-three times smaller. What does it mean? It means that we cannot avoid competition between institutions of higher learning in the training of essential specialists,” the president said.
“Keep your eyes on the ball. Your work will be efficient if you train good scientists, engineers, designers and other specialists who will make new products and develop new technologies. If you fail, only the fittest will survive,” Aleksandr Lukashenko warned.
