Lukashenko: Belarus will double down on clean-up efforts in 2025

TOLOCHIN, 20 April (BelTA) – This year  Belarus will pay utmost attention to cleaning up and landscaping, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said while visiting a church in Tolochin, BelTA has learned.

“I have noticed that those whom we have helped a lot are not working well. Therefore I must tell you bluntly (no one lies in the church): this year we will double down on our efforts to bring our country to rights,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Speaking about the Year of Improvement, the president noted that it is not about just simply sweeping the streets and planting trees: “Everyone should tidy up their own land plot, be it in the countryside or in urban communities.” Aleksandr Lukashenko added that there should be no empty or abandoned land in our country.

The president noted that the church in Tolochin is more than 400 years old, but it has been preserved in perfect shape, in many ways due to good care. “Imagine how much it has seen in its lifetime and how much more it will see thanks to our caring hands. It is neat and well-kept. Just like we will look after this church (I really hope so, I count on you), the same way we will look after other facilities in our country in the Year of Improvement.”

The head of state emphasized that Belarusians must live this year with dignity, create normal living conditions, first of all for children. “It is not always the case, especially in Vitebsk Oblast. That is why I have told the chairman of the district executive committee (the president's representative here): this is insider information for you - get ready for very serious inspections,” the head of state said.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the inspections will assess what Vitebsk Oblast has achieved over the past years.

“Taking this opportunity, being in this temple of God, I want to ask you to do your job properly. It is much easier, much simpler compared to our southern neighbors. I would not want us to get to this point. Therefore, we must work and just do our job,” the president remarked.

The head of state promised a fair treatment for everyone: you get what you have earned. “The Lord did not give us oil and gas to pump and sell, and to divide the money. We do not have this, we have to build our wealth with our own hands. Perhaps it was His divine design. Therefore, let us make the most of what we have and take care of our Belarusian land,” the president said.
