MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – The current generation of Belarusians should do everything in order to preserve the country. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he summarized results of the Nationwide Conference on Teaching on 27 August, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I have very strong hopes for you. Only teachers can be the conduit of the policy I would like to be pursued on the ground. This is why I’ve said that you should be afraid of no one. You are masters of this country. Once you waver, then that’s it, feel free to prepare bast shoes tomorrow. A whip has already been prepared for us. This is why you must never retreat and you should be afraid of no one.”
The president encouraged pedagogues to contact the authorities with their problems. “We will definitely support you. To hold the country in our hands has never been more important. Our children and grandchildren will never forgive us if we let the country be ruined and if we abandon it,” the head of state stressed. “We must preserve these lands for our kids. It is impossible without you.”
“Over these years we have realized or have come close to realizing what we need, what our country needs. Let’s preserve it for our kids. It is my key request. In order to preserve it, you have to be tough. You have to be harsh in school if necessary so that they would feel that teachers are sacred,” Aleksandr Lukashenko encouraged.
