Lukashenko: Belarus welcomes migrants who want to work, who respect our state

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to take in migrants willing to work and who respect the Belarusian state and people, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with heads of Belarus’ diplomatic missions, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian leader reiterated the country’s policy toward migrants seeking employment in Belarus. “This doesn’t mean anyone can come here and do whatever they please,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. “We’re ready to welcome all who want to work, who respect our state and people, and who behave decently. Our ambassadors in their countries of origin will have the final say in this matter.”

Regarding migrants already in Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted they are on the government’s radar. “I must say that as of today – and I keep my tabs on this – we have no problems with them,” he stated.
The president reminded the attendees of an alternative solution: tripling labor productivity among Belarusian citizens to strengthen competitiveness in neighboring markets. “Every employee must ask themselves: ‘Are we ready for this?’ If so, don’t hire migrants. If needed, invite them – guarantee their safety and equal rights, but demand one thing: hard work and results.”
