MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The head of state noted that over a short period of history, Minsk and Caracas managed to build strong and friendly ties despite the huge distance between them. “Over a quarter of a century, our relations have reached the level of strategic partnership underpinned by common views on what a fair world order should be. A great contribution to this partnership was made by your predecessor Hugo Chavez, who was my close friend,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.
The Belarusian leader believes that such a reliable and strong foundation allows expanding mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors based on mutual respect. It also allows developing common approaches to addressing global problems, protecting independence and defending the national interests of the two states in the international arena in today's difficult time.
The outcomes of the regular meeting of the Belarus-Venezuela high-level commission held in Caracas in December 2021 also show the great potential of bilateral cooperation, the president stated.
Aleksandr Lukashenko reaffirmed Belarus' commitment to further strengthening political, trade and economic ties with Venezuela and wished the Venezuelan president excellent health and new successes in running the country, and the people of Venezuela peace and prosperity.
