
MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Myanmar will develop a cooperation roadmap, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said following the talks with Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing, BelTA has learned.
“We view this visit as a milestone in our interstate relations. Today we have discussed in detail various areas of cooperation, with a focus on trade, economic and humanitarian interaction,” the head of state said. “We are ready to do everything to help Myanmar ensure its food and technological security,” the president said.

The parties have formalized their plans to build cooperation in the manufacturing industry, agriculture, pharmaceutics and science. “These are the sectors where Belarus has high competencies,” the president noted.
According to him, this year the work of the Belarus-Myanmar Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation will be resumed. A joint commission on scientific, technical and innovative cooperation will be set up in the near future.

Belarus and Myanmar also agreed to intensify humanitarian cooperation, in particular to bring more Myanmar students to Belarus. This year, the first group of children from Myanmar will arrive in Belarus for a recuperation program at the Zubrenok National Children's Center.
“Our specialists and ministers, members of the government will visit Myanmar in the near future. And specialists from Myanmar will stay in Belarus for some time in order to study what we have on offer and how to expand cooperation. We have just discussed some arrangements one-on-one with the prime minister, and I have realized that we can cooperate in all fields. We are ready to collaborate in all sectors and areas as the prime minister of Myanmar suggested,” the head of state said.
Speaking about the signed memorandum of intent to promote Belarus-Myanmar cooperation, Aleksandr Lukashenko said that this document will be examined at a meeting of the joint committee in the near future. This document provides for specific steps to add dynamics to bilateral cooperation in all areas discussed during the visit.
Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked Min Aung Hlaing for a meaningful and substantive conversation and for the invitation to visit Myanmar. “I think that in the near future we will meet in your home country. We will use this opportunity to check how our agreements are being implemented and to outline new mutually beneficial areas of cooperation. I want you to know that you are always welcome in Belarus,” he said.
