Lukashenko: Belarus looks forward to hosting Chinese President Xi Jinping

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarus looks forward to hosting President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received credentials from ambassadors on 1 October, BelTA has learned.

The president noted that 1 October marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. "Taking this opportunity, Mr Ambassador, in your person, I would like to congratulate the Chinese people on your great national holiday. This is our holiday too," Aleksandr Lukashenko said. "It is very important for us that you present your credentials on this day."

The head of state emphasized that China has always been the most important, reliable and special trading, economic and political partner for Belarus. “Minsk and Beijing enjoy an unprecedentedly high level of trusting cooperation,” the Belarusian leader stated. He noted that in the context of global political tensions, Belarus and China were able to bring bilateral relations to the level of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership. Despite the crisis processes in the global economy, the parties reached a new record in trade last year.

"I would like to express special gratitude to my dear friend, Chinese President Xi Jinping for a constructive approach to cooperation. Please convey my good wishes to him and let him know that we are looking forward to hosting him on a visit at any time convenient for him," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
