MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – After casting his ballot in the presidential election on 26 January, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told journalists that Belarus is working on creating a cryptocurrency, BelTA has learned.
“We are working on creating a cryptocurrency in Belarus. We have surplus electricity,” the head of state emphasized
“This task was set for specialists and the government; recently our IT specialists have sent me a letter,” the president continued.
He remarked: “They have suggested going this way. This idea comes from them, but they need our help as they are working on artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency (the same way as I helped set up a park).”
“It suits us to make payments in cryptocurrency. We are working on a cryptocurrency in Belarus. We have extra electric energy. We are making the best of it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
