MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Belarus is a strong and independent country of special, proud people with a heightened sense of justice. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he met with parliamentarians, members of the Constitutional Commission, and representatives of government bodies on 26 May, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Look at the unprecedented pressure on the country, on attempts to aggressively teach us a lesson, cut us down to size, and provoke using the dirtiest methods and technologies. All the escalation on the part of the West stems from their envy, impotence, and rage caused by their failure to stage an armed revolt and a coup in Belarus. And they will fail. Do you know why? Not because you or me, all of us are so tough or because we have the world's best intelligence services although it is partially true. But because Belarus is a strong and independent country of special, proud people with a heightened sense of justice.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the state will always guard interests of the nation and every person while any attempts to destroy people's wellbeing will be suppressed. “A lot of shouting about dictatorship. How does it manifest? We don't allow vandalism, desecration of state symbols. We don't allow the destruction of national foundations and traditions,” he said.
