MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarus does not shun progressive forms of Western European democracy, but integrates them into its political system, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said addressing the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 24 April, BelTA has learned.
“We are okay with the fact that Western liberals dislike our political model. However, we do not reject progressive forms of Western European democracy. We integrate them into our political system, our culture, our worldview as long as they are compatible with our principles and values,” the head of state said.
He emphasized that the Belarusian People’s Congress acts as a mechanism that merges long-standing traditions with global political practices.
