LEPEL DISTRICT, 31 October (BelTA) – Belarus has replaced the nuclear weapons deployed on its territory with the newest ones from Russia, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his working trip to Vitebsk Oblast on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
“They [opponents abroad] are rearming, 6% of GDP is billions of dollars. If you buy a gun, you don’t buy it just to hang it on the wall. Even a gun hanging on the wall must eventually go off. They are probably buying weapons all over the world for a reason. And they shout: ‘Why did Lukashenko get nuclear weapons? Why is Lukashenko planning to deploy the Oreshnik system?’” the head of state said.
“What am I supposed to do? Should I just sit and wait like in 1941 for them to come here, rape our women, and kill our children? I don’t want that,” the Belarusian leader stressed. “That is why I say: ‘Guys, nuclear weapons are a terrible thing’.”

“Just so you know, we have exchanged our nuclear weapons once again. We shipped them to Russia and brought in the newest ones. They have been put in proper condition. It is an expensive thing to maintain. The Russians are helping. We have brought them back. We are training how to use them. Both from aircraft and with missile weapons. We make no secret of it,” the president stated.
